Thanks for joining me again for the list of smartphone apps I like and use. Last week I talked about newbs, noobs, Snapseed, Sync and VPNSecure. Today I was going to list the last few in my list. However, when I asked a few weeks ago, some of you suggested a few I did not think about or have not used in a while. Note, as usual, the “dblclx.com/gp_???” links that follow are for the Google Play Store.

These two map apps are tied at first place for usage with me. I use them much of the time I am on the road or anywhere out of the area. As I have stated before, both are owned by Google. Waze.com and Maps.Google.com (online links) or dblclx.com/gp_waze and dblclx.com/gp_maps for the Google Store. Both of these are also available in the iPhone App Store. If you have an Android phone you will not need to install Google Maps as it is built-in.

So, my preference is on the interstate and long trips I use Waze. In an unknown city, I use Google. This is because I can use the satellite view to see actual buildings and other locations as I ride by them.

I definitely do not use this app but I most certainly should. This one is recommended by family members and friends who do use WW. Now, this starts out as a free app; however, to continue to use it over time you must pay. It can be anywhere from (from what I have been told) about $14 to $20 per month or an annual fee. You have been warned, but it is pretty cool.

If you are on WW you will count points and, in the app, you can look up specific foods, scan bar codes from labels of foods in the app and record your favorites for a quick lookup. It also will record your weight loss, daily/weekly point usage and your bonus points. If you are a WW person you know what all that means. Also, I will say that it must work. My wife has been using the app alone, not going to any meetings and so far, has lost 40 pounds. YAY!

Since I have had many readers email me to say how they have enjoyed this series I will be continuing it for a while. I will also suggest here that if you have a great smartphone app (Android or iPhone) email me and let me know. I will write about it if I have used it in the past, or am using it now but did not mention it here. I will test it before I write about it to discover what you love about the recommended app. So, everyone out there, send me your suggestions with any extra info about it, like why you like it, how long you have used it, etc.

This is my first try at getting your direct input on a large topic and I know you will not let me down!
