People write to ask me about the best apps for their phones. I cannot tell you the “best” but I can let you know the ones that I really appreciate, depend on and/or often use.

A couple of thoughts before starting.  I am not regularly using an iPhone so I will write this to the Android audience.  Also, a statistical site, Statcounter, indicates that as of June 2019, from January 2018 to January 2019 Android phones made up 76.3% of the phone market with iOS in second place with 22.04%.  Finally, most of these apps are also located in the Apple Store for iPhones, so if you are an iPhone user check here.

So, in alphabetical order here are my favorites with some shortened links where needed. I have mentioned some of them previously so you may have a couple of déjà vu moments. Also, in the parentheses below I have typed a short extension you can use to get directly to the Google Play Store for that app.  For instance, below for the first, the Amazon app, I have (gp_amazon).  To view the actual site type, “dblclx.com/” (do not forget the forward slash) in front of it on your browser to go directly to it.  So below you would type, “dblclx.com/gp_amazon“.  This is the new way I will be shortening long links to fit on the page.

The Amazon app (gp_amazon) with this app you can search for and purchase items from Amazon. If you are already a user of Amazon you know that you can find almost anything. With a prime account you “can” receive your order the same day or within two days. One day is the best I have gotten but I have no idea what the future holds. If you do not want the app you can use your phone browser to get to Amazon.com but the app is easier and quicker.

How about a good weather app? I was sold on Wunderground.com for years. However, another has arrived on the scene. I and many others have found it to be much more accurate for local weather. Dark Sky is the not cool name but regrettably, it is accurately named in some cases. Check it out on the Google Play store (gp_darksky) or online (darksky.net). Well worth the time and investment ($0.00).

Next, a replacement for the regular Android phone dialing function. Another strange name but still, Drupe Dialer is great (gp_drupe). Here are just some of its features most of which are on the main screen:  WhatsApp, SMS, walkie talkie, Facebook Messenger, smart caller ID tracker & blocker to (sometimes) find out unknown numbers and believe it or not, a built-in call recorder. The recorded calls can be stored online so you do not take up room on your phone and they are crystal clear.

This is all we have room for this week; however, next week HOLD ON!  I am going to tell you how to save a good amount of money. Not a scam, not a get rich scheme and not about anyone sending you money (or you sending them a small deposit) who has been dethroned in a foreign country; but a real way to save some dollars. I use it and guarantee it if you do something that I imagine all of us do.  It is…

A real Prince's camel offering you a flower
