OK, Christmas time is coming followed up by New Year do you think you will be taking a few pictures?  You betcha! So, a couple of weeks ago I wrote several articles about some of the advantages of Google Photos. Go back and read that if you missed it. There are several good tips there. I also received a lot of questions from you all with other questions regarding Google Photos. So here are some more that may help you during the season.

Google Photos logoAfter you have taken your pictures you want to share them directly from your phone. Never mind that your friends may not want to see them but you are a giving person. You can share individual images, movies, albums and more.

A neat thing about sharing is that the people you share with do not have to be users of Google Photos. Open the app and click to select the photos, moves, etc. you wish to share. To select multiples for one share, click and hold the first picture, then click the next ones you want to share. It will put a check mark on each one you choose. Multiple selects are called an Album.  Once you have made your choices touch the Share icon on the upper right of your phone. The share icon looks like the letter, "V" flipped over clockwise on its side with dots.

Select Photos

At this point, your Android phone may perform differently but basically asks how you want to share them. Mine gives me choices of email, Facebook, Twitter and several others. You can also choose, "Get link." If you choose some, it will put the photos in the email, etc. I like to choose "Get link" which it copies to my clipboard and then I paste it and send it. Here you go, try this one from me to you, bit.ly/2AE89Th (capitalization counts). Email me to tell where I was for each one. As you can see, anyone with that link may see that Album that I shared. They may also download and keep those photos if they would like.

Share Photos

Let us pretend that you get a little anxious and accidentally delete those photos you selected above, oops. Never fear, Google Photos will keep your pics for 60 days before totally deleting them. To get them back go to your "Trash" folder. To get there look to the upper left corner in the app. Click the "hamburger" which is three short horizontal lines. Look down the list and click on "Trash." You will see all of the images that have been deleted within the past 60 days. Select the one(s) you want and click the Restore link in the upper right corner. Almost instantly you will have them back in your photos. You can also choose to delete all of them in the trash. When I checked mine I decided to totally remove all 148 of them.

This one is off topic but slick. This one also only works on your computer or tablet, not in the app.  Do you have a picture and you want to find a similar photo?  Maybe the picture of a tree or flower you want to identify. Find the picture on your computer or in your browser.  Go to Google.com, look up anything and then click the "Images" link.  Now, click and drag your photo up to the Google search area, hover it there for a couple of seconds, it will ask you to drop it in, to search. With the pictures, I shared with you above it identified one exactly and gave similar pictures of the others…but none of the locations were identified, good luck!
