Sometimes when I write I run out of room since I have a limited amount of space to fill per article. So, that means that sometimes I also run out of space to complete all of my thoughts. That is usually fine as I can and do, have a Part 2, Part 3 or more parts for an idea. Occasionally that means I do not have enough room for everything but not enough for an entire article for you to read. Also, from time-to-time I will have a small tidbit for you but not enough words to complete the thought.  Today I deal with a couple of those matters.

First off, at the end of last month I wrote about my new favorite online storage app called Sync. You get 5GB of free online storage. The one item I left off will benefit you and me. If you use this link to sign up for Sync, bit.ly/sync_com, you and I will both get an extra 1GB of storage with your download of the app. So, try it and give us both some extra free storage.

Here are a few often asked questions from you and answers from me.

What is the best, or your preferred browser?  Simple, Google Chrome at google.com/chrome. Depending on where you find the information, 60% to 67% of people around the world agree with me.

Many people ask about an office suite other than Microsoft Office. That question comes from the higher than normal cost to the average users (and confusing abstract pricing choices), even though it is the number one suite used in the world. My recommendation is Libre Office which is free. It also totally works with MS Office files so you can work with the rest of the world at no cost. You may download it from libreoffice.org.  It is a large file so be aware of that if you have a slow internet connection. There is a close second, Open Office which is also free; however, it is not updated as regularly as Libre Office, so it may lag behind in improvements.

So, you ask, what antivirus app should I use? I believe the app Microsoft includes with Windows 10 is the one you need and I use. Again, free. It has gone through several name changes but it is now known as Windows Defender. It is good, runs by itself and updates with Windows. Nice deal. One additional thought is that I do suggest including Malwarebytes.com. The free version is good.  The paid version is better as it auto updates and watches a few other things. Malwarebytes and Windows Defender can run simultaneously on your computer too as others may not play well together.

The last question for today is, how can I update all of my other applications like Windows 10 updates its operating system? A great application for that is Patch My PC at bit.ly/patchmy-pc. I have used it successfully for quite a while. It does not find every app on your PC, but does locate a large percentage of them. I have tried other applications like this and they all missed some but this one is good…and free.

Let me know if you liked this information and I will give you another short Q&A next week…hey, Part 2!
