We have taken a look over the past couple of weeks regarding all the links and sites I looked at in my articles last year. (Part One & Part Two) They are linking to various items that I believe may be useful for my readers.

As always, if you see something below of interest, check it out.

You know the layout if you read the last two, but as a reminder, I have shortened the longer addresses using my “ghtech.site” prefix. Type them into your browser’s address bar and press your enter key to visit the sites. You can also look around here at GrayHaired.Tech and click the links to visit the references.

  • I was asked for free programs for Windows users. Keep in mind that most of my items are free, with “pro” versions for sale. ShareX (getsharex.com, free), which I mentioned in the past two weeks, and Google Chrome Browser (google.com/chrome, free), which is my favorite Windows browser. If you have not tried it out, you may want to give it a spin. Also, in this group is Everything for Windows (everything.en.softonic.com). This is a delightful change from Windows File Search, which can take a long time depending on the search criteria. “Everything” finds the same files, however, in seconds and not minutes. I highly recommend it.

  • Neuralink (neuralink.com) is Elon Musk’s implant company, which is getting closer to having the ability and US approval to place manufactured brain implants in people. Yes, you read that correctly…it scares me too. I hope it works for those who need it, but it is still a bit of fiction in my brain.

  • A very good deal on a SanDisk 512GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive for $35, ghtech.site/512usb. If you need a flash drive, you should seriously consider this one.

  • Is your Windows 10 computer ready to use Windows 11? You will need to ensure it meets certain hardware criteria. You can determine your device’s compatibility by visiting Microsoft’s Health Check at ghtech.site/11healthcheck to make sure.
  • Zorin.com, is a very good Linux operating system that looks and acts very similarly to Windows 10 and 11. If you are a person with an older computer that will not, or you do not want to, run Windows 11, this is something you may want to check out. You need to be “geekier” than most to install it. I think the benefits could be worth it in many cases.

  • Kids’ Tech Contract” at Kim Komando’s website, komando.com/contract provides a contract for your kids to read, sign, and hopefully obey about online activities. If they follow the agreements defined there, they will be much safer online.
  • Microsoft Office (Microsoft365.com), Google Docs (Google.com), and LibreOffice (LibreOffice.org) are three of the most popular word-processing software programs available. LibreOffice is an excellent, totally free app (unless you want to donate) that equals MS Office in many ways. Microsoft and Google are both free, but you can pay for upgrades to both. All three are good production applications.

  • Apple AirTags (apple.com/airtag), and Samsung Galaxy Smart Tags (ghtech.site/galaxy-tags) these are actual tags you can add to anything to be able to trace its location from your phone, be it iPhone or Android.

  • Microsoft Edge Browser, ghtech.site/edge-info, if you would like to get more details on the Microsoft Edge Browser, that is where you should start your investigation. Unless you have intentionally delete it, it is still on your computer.

  • Worldwide Desktop Operating System Market Share, ghtech.site/OSstats823. See what operating systems are being used around the world.
  • I should also present one of my own articles, which is becoming a serious problem. Pig Butchering Scams, which are most likely played on seniors, but anyone could be hit by these,  grayhaired.tech/pig-butchering-scams. Please read it; I hope it will help you significantly.

Next week, more of the sites and applications I gave links to last year in 2023 will be covered in Part 4.
