Welcome back for this month’s topics and discussion from the show earlier this morning.  I will also post the podcast here a bit later today, some come back and check it out.

If there is a lawyer in the audience that has experience in digital rights management please listen and comment or contact me. We would really like to know from someone in “authority” what the current actual laws about DRM are now.

Read on to see what we talked about today.

Things Jim and I Talked About Today

Media Player

MeWe (mewe.com) is a Social Network Site/App that brings Simplicity back to Social Networking. MeWe allows you to stay in touch with your closest friends that you actually care about instead of being cluttered with targeted ads, social quizzes and posts you don’t want to read. We mentioned it last week too and people seem to be interested. Sign up and try it out and visit me there, https://mewe.com/i/ron.doyle.

You can read about what the developers intend and their plans here.

Media Player

Well I am a Windows guy but the media player which is the default audio and video player that comes built into Windows is not up-to-par in my opinion.

On all of my machines I install iTunes (apple.com/itunes). Yes, an Apple product is not usually something I recommend; however, when it is one of the best and free I do not care who makes it. iTunes will also easily allow you to “rip” your CDs to digital files for storing on your computer or in the cloud for easy access.

There is another close second that I just like but I still think iTunes is the best.

On all of my machines I also install VLC (or VideoLAN Client, videolan.org). If I am watching a digital movie this does win out over iTunes for me.

Notes

In my business of writing articles and training sessions I need to take lots of notes. There are two applications I use that are essential for me to keep up.

One is for short quick notes. Like a list of things to do or websites that I need to take a look at. The other is for long pieces of information or research.

  • Quick notes: Google Keep (keep.google.com), free and also part of Google Docs.
  • Research: OneNote (onenote.com), free and also part of Microsoft Offline Online and the downloadable Office Suite.

That is all for October. I hope to see you back here next month with Black Friday info and maybe some really good deals.

Ron
